Time
Greece is 2 hours ahead of Greenwich mean time (GMT), or 2 hours ahead of London, 7 hours ahead of New York, 7 hours behind Tokyo, and 6 hours ahead of Buenos Aires. Greece observes daylight saving time from late March to late September, during which time it is 3 hours ahead of GMT |

Electricity
Electric current is 220 volts, 50 Hz AC; plugs have two round pins. Visitors from abroad who wish to operate personal small electronic items should consider bringing a plug adapter and a transformer. |

Weights & Measures
The metric system is standard throughout the country. Geographic distances are measured by Kilometers. Liquids (water, spirits) are sold by volume (litres) rather than weight (Kilo). |

Tipping
Although a 15 percent service charge is included in restaurant bills, it is customary to add 5 percent for the server or maitre d’ and some small change on the table for the person who clears the dishes. Most people round up a taxi fare to the nearest half Euro for the driver. |

Laundries
Plindiria, as they’re known in Greek, are beginning to crop up in most of the main resort towns, sometimes an attended service wash is available for no little than 4,5 - 5.5 Euro per wash and dry. | |
