Taxis in Chios

Greek Taxis are comparatively considered as the cheapest in Europe. All taxis in Chios have taximeter with tarif per kilometer. In each taxi there is a paper next to the taximeter, which includes all charges. You may be asked for a predetermined fare in case you hire a taxi to dive you from/to some popular tourist regions of the island. For this reason it would be better for you to ask for the fares before get into the taxi.

Minimum rate: 2,7 Euro
inside city limits (simple rate): 0,32 Euro
Rate per Km in the periphery (double rate): 0,60 Euro
Waiting time per hour: 7,90 Euro
From & to Airport surcharge: 2 Euro
From & to port and bus stations: 0,80 Euro
Night tariff (From Midnight to 5:00 am): 0,60 Euro
Baggage over 10 Kg each: 0,30 Euro
Radio Taxis association (Tel. 2271041111): Simple call surcharge 1,50 euro and special appointment surcharge 2,50 Euro

- To carry your baggage from the pavement to taxi
- It is prohibited to deny your transportation and he can’t transport other customers without your permission (double hired)
- You have the right to ask him to wait for you for about 15 minutes in serious cases
- He is obliged to give you a receipt in case you wish one
