Monastery of Zoodochos Pygi

| The Monastery of Zoodochos Pygi was established near Armolia at the end of the 18th century by three Mount Athos monks -Averkio, Gervasio and Serapiona -in the pre-existing church of the Virgin (Panaghia). It developed into an important spiritual-intellectual center of the southern villages. It was destroyed during the massacres of 1822 but was restored in 1828. Today it houses only one monk. |
