| Kambia (48 Km from the town) is a small village at the northern part of Chios, that lies at the foothill of Pelinneon mountain, 500 m. from sea-level, overlooking a wonderful ravine. The whole area is covered with cherry-trees, chestnut-trees and olive groves. Nearby the village there is a beautiful beach with clear waters. Worth visiting is the Fortress of Kambia, also called Fortress of Orias. Those small places, united by ancient traditions, one of which claims they have always been protected by ancient god Pelineos Zeus. |
